Susan E. Burger, MHS, PhD, IBCLC
Susan Burger has worked on international nutrition
programs primarily in West Africa, SouthEast Asia and the Andes
from the mid 1980s through 1999. Since the fundamental building
blocks for good nutrition start with breastfeeding, helping women
to be able to breastfeed successfully has always been an integral
component of these programs. When she gave birth to her son in 1999,
she realized that women in the United States often had far less
help getting breastfeeding off to a good start than women in developing
countries. Since then, she has combined motherhood with providing
breastfeeding services for women in New York City. In addition to
her board certification as a lactation consultant, she has a Master
of Health Sciences in International Health and a doctorate in International
Nutrition. |

Heather Kelly,
MA, IBCLC
Heather Kelly has been helping nursing mothers since 2001.
Formerly a Latin teacher, she made a career switch after the birth
of her second child, a move she sums up as "going from one conversation-stopping
job to another." She was one of the lactation consultants
at Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center until their doors
closed in 2003, at which point she co-founded the Manhattan Lactation
Group. Currently a mother of three boys and (at
last!) a girl, Heather is the featured lactation consultant on
the award-winning video "The Real Deal on Breastfeeding," and
is on the Board of Advisors for AlphaMom TV. She and
her family reside in New York City.

Beverly Solow, IBCLC -- www.bevsolow.com
After becoming a mother in
1987, Beverly left her career as a U.S. Customs Officer and trained
at Beth Israel Medical Center to become a lactation consultant.
She made this dramatic change because she loved breastfeeding her
own children. She also found the transition to motherhood
to be challenging, and wanted to do something professionally to
help new mothers make that change in their lives. Shortly after
her daughter was born in 1991, Beverly became board certified as
a lactation consultant. She has been helping nursing mothers in
New York City for 14 years. She provides home consultations and
support meetings on the Upper West Side and in Inwood. |
